Our trainers come from a broad range of backgrounds with many years of experience in various fields of finance. They use their expertise and insights to design and deliver engaging and effective courses that meet the needs and goals of the industry.

Ng Lye Heng

CFA, CAIA, FRM

Lye Heng is a derivatives specialist with 13 years of direct banking experience across international financial markets. He began his career in the early 1990s, taking on roles as a principal proprietary trader and product structurer. His expertise includes trading in stock indices and fixed-income derivatives across major financial centres, such as Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, New York, and Chicago. He ended his institutional career by managing market risk for the global trading book of a regional bank.

In 2004, Lye Heng founded Salmon Thrust, a company specialising in training and consultancy for Investment, Treasury, and Wealth Management. He has created and delivered learning solutions for major global banks, including a comprehensive investment workshop series for over 200 relationship managers at Citibank Singapore. To date, he has conducted thousands of seminar delegate-days across Singapore and China.

Lye Heng has been an active educator in the professional certification field for over twenty years, serving as a CFA trainer since 1999 and a CAIA trainer since 2009. He holds three notable industry qualifications: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

Academically, he holds a Master of Social Science (Applied Economics) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Bachelor of Business (Financial Analysis) from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Staying abreast of market developments, Lye Heng completed the MIT Fintech certification programme and actively advises several Fintech start-ups in Singapore. He is also the author of three IBF-accredited FTS online courses: “Understanding Fintech,” “Technologies Behind the Bitcoin and its Blockchain,” and “Analyzing Bitcoins and Other Cryptocurrencies.”
