Bhavani Prakash

MSc (Financial Economics), PGDM (Finance), SCR®

Bhavani Prakash is a highly accomplished trainer and TEDx speaker, having addressed audiences as large as 600 and distinguished listeners including the former Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, as well as C-suite members and senior managers. For her pioneering role in advocating sustainability well ahead of times, she was awarded the SONY-IWA Woman of the Year in 2014.

With a background in finance and economics, Bhavani Prakash has been a long-time entrepreneur, consultant and trainer in sustainability, having conducted trainings, workshops and masterclasses for a wide range of organisations such as multinational banks and corporations, government departments, Institutes of Higher Learning and non-profits. Her topics include climate change, climate risks and opportunities, sustainable finance, systems-thinking, global sustainability-related regulatory frameworks and trends. She has also written and delivered courses for banking professionals covering topics such as climate risk, carbon markets, sustainability reporting, greenwashing risks and regulatory frameworks.

She is currently the Co-Founder of Sustainable Gaia, which provides sustainability reporting for organisations using frameworks such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)’s IFRS S2, UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG), Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and questionnaires such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Beyond various ESG metrics, she helps issuers strengthen governance frameworks, report on climate-related risks and opportunities and integrate these into governance, strategy and risk management.

She holds an M.Sc in Financial Economics from University of London, and a PGDM (now renamed as MBA) in Finance from IIM Calcutta India. She also holds several sustainability certifications which include CFA Certificate Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing, Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) by Global Association of Risk Professionals, ISO 14064 GHG Lead Verifier/Validator by SGS, ISCA Assurance Professional Certification, and Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) from IAL Singapore.
