Ng Lye Heng CFA CAIA FRM

Lye Heng is a derivative specialist whose topical areas encompass financial markets and traded derivative instruments, investments and wealth management. He started his banking career in the early 1990s and held roles as a principal derivative trader and product structurer. He traded derivatives on stock indices and fixed incomes in global financial markets, ranging from Tokyo, Hong Kong, London to New York and Chicago. He concluded his career in treasury by managing market risk on the global trading book of United Overseas Bank.

In 2004, Lye Heng set up Salmon Thrust, offering training and consultancy in the areas of Investment, Treasury and Wealth Management. Clients include various global banks such as Citibank where he conducted a series of comprehensive investment workshops for the 200-odd relationship managers based in Singapore. To date, he has provided learning solutions across a variety of product and wealth management topics encompassing thousands of seminar delegate-days both in Singapore as well as in China.

Julian Roche

Julian is a frequent speaker on business valuations at international conferences. He has been involved in training and consulting since 1998 and has delivered corporate finance programs in Singapore and London, to a number of blue chip companies: including corporate restructuring, venture capital and private equity, management buy-outs, business valuations, EVA, CFROI, investment analysis, fund management, private finance initiative, M&A, etc. He is a frequent speaker on business valuations at international conferences, and as conference chairman.

Julian has had over 19 years of business experience which includes the following:

  • Ministry of Defence, Whitehall, London, where he was part of Defence Intelligence Staff as an economist
  • DRI McGraw Hill as Director, Forecasting Service, where he was responsible for macro-economic analysis and forecasting
  • Head of Research, Hudson Venture Partners, responsible for the selection and evaluation of investment projects, account management and headed business valuation practice
  • Vice-President, MHCi, responsible for corporate finance and economic input to firms specialising in corporate social responsibility issues
Julian has a First Class Honours degree from Hertford College, Oxford University 1978-81 and an M. Phil. in Politics from Exeter University. Julian has also written many books with the latest two titles: The Value of Nothing: Cashflow and Business Valuation (40 Lessons, 2005) and Corporate Governance in Asia (Routledge, 2005)
Damian Bridge CFA CPA

Damian Bridge has 17 years experience in the accounting and financial services industry and is currently the Principal of a consultancy firm. Before this, Damian was the Deputy Chief Finance and Compliance officer at Mellon Global Investments. Prior to this Damian was Product Controller at JP Morgan Worldwide Security Services and was responsible for operational reporting and forecasting at a local and global level.

Damian has held a variety of positions in Australia, UK and Canada. He was Advisor of Financial Affairs at the Canadian Bankers Association where he was responsible for all advocacy on behalf of Canadian banks on accounting and compliance issues. Damian has also worked at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac banking Corporation, Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.

Damian holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Sydney with majors in Accounting (Hons) and Economics. He is also a CPA and a CFA.

Steven Lesser

Steve has been in training and consultancy since 1991 and he travels a lot to Asia Pacific region. His practice is largely in the areas of Strategic Management, Change Implementation, Marketing and Sales, People Development, Negotiation, Problem Solving, Credit and Project Management. He has had extensive experience in the financial services industry. Clients include Vodafone, Citibank, Renong Berhad, AMP Banking. He has also had articles published in this area. Recent implementations include the installation and use of just-in-time electronic support tools for high leverage competencies, utilising Intranet & multimedia. Steve is also a frequent speaker at regional, HRD, financial and strategic conferences as well as facilitating client strategic planning, conferences and meetings.

Steve brings some 22 years financial services industry experience, from positions as General Manager Corporate Banking, The Nippon Credit Bank; Deputy State Manager, Challenge Bank Limited, and various managerial positions with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Steve has, over the past fifteen years, lectured at both under and post-graduate level (including MBA) at three Australian Universities. He is currently Adjunct Professor at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.

Steve holds a Master of Applied Finance (Macquarie University) and a Bachelor of Business, (Charles Stuart University). He is also a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance, a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors in Australia, an Associate Fellow, Australian Institute of Management, an Associate, Australian Institute of Training and Development and a Director of the Instructional Systems Association of Australasia.

Christopher John Brickhill D.Phil., M.Sc.

Christopher has over 30 years experience in financial markets risk and technology, and has worked in Asia, Europe, and North America. He provides consultancy and training services throughout Asia Pacific and specializes in Risk, Risk IT, Tactical and Strategic planning. His banking career began with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, and has worked or consulted for Citibank (New York and Dubai), Bankers Trust (Deutsche), DBS, China Everbrite, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, Schroders, Westpac, BNI, BRI, Bank Syariah Mandiri, SEB, Mizuho, Daiwa, Santander and LTCB. He managed Reuters’s Basel II program in Asia Pacific and he teaches and examines part of the Enterprise Risk Management Diploma courses for ARiMI/NUS.

Christopher’s knowledge and experience in financial consultancy and training derives from his extensive experience both as a banker and a vendor to the banking industry. He has taught at universities, written and published academic material, managed technology for global organizations, and managed multinational teams developing, and implementing financial software. His areas of consultancy include Risk, Basel II and III (market, credit, operational and liquidity), capital adequacy, Economic Capital, risk capital frameworks, policy formation and implementation, treasury and risk automation initiatives and strategy.

Chris grew a start up treasury front-end systems company from its beginnings in the early 80s and won clients like globally like Barclays, Mizuho, Swiss Bank (UBS), Santander and Citibank.

Chris has taught at the University of Oxford, the University of Essex and the University of Melbourne where he lectured in Mathematical Logic and wrote What is Mathematical Logic? with John Crossley and others and which was published by Oxford University Press in 1972, and continues in press today in multiple languages. Chris’s education includes degrees from the University of Oxford, Essex and Melbourne (D.Phil., M.Sc., B. A., and B. Sc.) and he is a former JCR President at Balliol.

Lieven Jacquemyn

Lieven currently manages his own company Plektics. Plektics develops, invests and operates of infrastructure projects in the SEA region, with a strong focus in the sectors of transport, social, water and renewable energy.

Prior to venturing out on his own, he was the Regional Director of KPMG’s Infrastructure and Projects Group in Singapore since 2007. His past experiences include working in the KPMG Corporate Finance team at both the London and Paris offices. He was also a project manager at Bilfinger Berger Project Investments based in Germany and the UK.

With more than 10 years of experience Lieven has enormous know-how as an infrastructure investor as well as financial advisor across both the social as well as the transport sectors. He is a respected guest speaker at infrastructure conferences and has written various articles on topics related to his fields of expertise. In his course of work, he has conducted industry- related workshops to share his knowledge on project development and the PPP landscape.

Lieven earned his Master in Civil Engineering from Leuven University, Belgium, and MBA in International Business from ESC Grenoble, France. He speaks Dutch, English, French and German fluently.

Francis Teo

Francis Teo is a career banker who has regularly appeared as a Speaker at seminars involving fund management operations, Treasury Operations and Custody products and services. He is also a regular speaker at Swift’s Master-class seminars:

His working experience includes the following:

  • Head of Administration at Chase Manhattan Bank NA. (JP Morgan) where he headed Private Banking and Investment Operations for Singapore Branch. He was instrumental in creating the Regional Investment Operations Centre at Chase Singapore, which was responsible for the central securities settlement function for Chase Asia.

  • Prior to this assignment, he was the Management Accountant for Chase Singapore Branch, where, among other assignments, he monitored the funding and gaping positions of the Branch’s significant S$ and ACU books for the Branch’s ALCO Committee. Chase Singapore was at that time Chase Asia’s US$ and ACU funding centre. A system was implemented by him to automatically track the daily gaping positions as well as daily and accumulated funding profits.

  • Head of Operations at Swiss Bank Corporation (now known as UBS). While at Swiss Bank, he implemented a Straight-Through Processing system for Treasury Operations and later made Swiss Singapore’s Treasury Operations Centre as Swiss’s Asia Processing & Settlement Centre, responsible for the processing and settlement of treasury and derivative trades for Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

  • Head of Operations and Senior Director at UOB Asset Management, a company with more than S$20 billion in AUM with various asset classes. He also served as the Chairman of the Standards Sub-Committee within the Singapore Fund Administration Committee.

Francis holds an International MBA degree from the U.S.A. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London.
Larry Lovrencic

Larry has more than 20 years experience trading financial markets and is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). Larry holds the Diploma in Technical Analysis awarded by the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA) and has also been awarded the designation of Certified Financial Technician by the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA).

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA), which is based in New York. He is the Chair of IFTA's Accreditation Committee and Vice-Chair of IFTA’s Education and Body of Knowledge Committees.

Larry is a Vice President of the Australian Professional Technical Analysts (APTA) Inc, is also a founding member and a member of the Management Committee.

He is a Life Member of the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA). He is also a former Vice-president of the ATAA and a former member of the Board of Directors.

Sunny Pang

Sunny possessed 23 years of experience in the FX market and is currently Head of FX Advisory Asia - ANZ Private Bank Singapore. His main responsibility is to build up the FX team in Asian region and taking care of the Private Wealth Clients in Asia. Prior to this, he held senior positions at various global banks such as:

  • BNP Paribas Wealth Management HK as Head of FX Advisory, North Asia
  • Head of FX Advisory, Greater China in ABN Amro Private Bank HK
  • Head of Treasury of Chong Hing Bank in Hong Kong
  • Chief Dealer of DZ Bank Hong Kong
In the last 6 years, Sunny was often invited to talk on the media about the FX commentaries and forecast. He is a full practising member of the Treasury Market Association in Hong Kong. Sunny completed his study in Hong Kong and possessed a MBA degree from University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
Jack Tan

Jack is a trained practitioner with 27 years experience in trade finance, commercial banking and corporate banking. He had held VP & Group Head/Team Head appointments in both local and American banks. His expertise encompasses corporate lending, ship and aircraft project financing, trade finance, structured trade financing, commodity financing and loans syndication.

Jack conducts in-house training courses on trade finance, credit analysis, lending to SMEs and credit risk management for leading banks and institutions regionally. In collaboration with the World Bank, Jack was an invited course facilitator to train senior bankers in China. Jack Tan has been a trainer for the Institute of Banking & Finance, Singapore since 1988 and a trainer for the Institut Bank-Bank Malaysia since 1996. He serves as a lecturer for the Monash University’s distance learning graduate programme and SHRI Diploma course.

His research interests include financial accounting, trade finance, credit analysis and credit risk management, corporate finance and IPO, strategic management, marketing and brand management.

Victor Tan MBA

Victor Tan, MBA (Strathclyde), ACIB, MInstAM, is a qualified Life Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Bankers, London and has 15 years of banking experience covering the areas of International Trade Finance, Remittances, Guarantees, Import and Export departments. His previously worked at Barclays Bank PL as the Deputy Head of Trade Finance and has held positions with Standard Chartered Bank, Amsterdam-Rotterdam Bank, Bangkok Bank, Royal Trust Merchant Bank in the area of trade finance.

Since 1992 Victor has been an independent training consultant, conducting training for organsiations such as Chartered Institute of Marketing and University of London. In addition Victor regularly conducts In-house training for Corporate clients. His past clients have included Dun & Bradstreet, Honeywell Aerospace, KPMG, Nicor Petroleum and BP.

Shekar Ganesh

Shekar is an international banker with 27 years experience with a deep understanding of Asian/ Middle East markets. He has held senior leadership positions with primary focus on building and growing revenue business in the areas of private and corporate banking at three multinational banks- Standard Chartered, Commerzbank AG and American Express Bank.

In the course of his work, he has trained numerous bankers on various banking products, customer experience management, financial modeling, market evaluation and sizing, customer value proposition, sales management- negotiation and deal closing, customer targeting, setting objectives and accomplishing.

In particular, he is strong in marketing corporate and private banking products, in addition to having strong knowledge in customer risk analysis techniques, management and monitoring risk in both areas of business. He has a good handle of regulatory requirements and was responsible for significant contributions in creating documents covering credit and compliance policies for many countries.

After obtaining his masters diploma in management studies, he served as corporate banking head for American Express Bank in India and later as Asia head, responsible for setting up private bank for the ethnic segment in Hong Kong and Singapore covering Asia Pacific. At Commerzbank, he headed Asia Pacific Private Wealth Management initially before taking over as country head and CEO of Indian operations and later Asia Head for large corporate business based in Singapore. His role in Standard Chartered was to train more than 500 people on corporate banking products and strategies to develop multi-product relationship by cross selling products to the bank’s key clients in Korea. His last assignment in SCB was also to lead the setting up of on-shore wealth management platforms in several locations.

Ambrose Tan

Ambrose Tan is Treasury Manager of Aberdeen Asset Management in Singapore. He is part of the Investment Team in Aberdeen and is responsible for cash management of funds management in the Asia Pacific region. He joined Aberdeen in 2006 from Bangkok Bank, Singapore where he was head of the money market desk, in charge of liquidity and statutory reserves management. Previously, Ambrose worked for Banca Intesa as senior dealer, FX forwards/corporate desk. Prior to that, Ambrose worked for United Overseas Bank Ltd, Singapore as assistant vice president, regional forwards.

Ambrose started his career in the financial markets working in the back offices of Lloyds Bank and ANZ Bank in the early 80s'. He was responsible for the processing and settlement of trades in FX and MM products which included trade matching, confirmation, payment and receipt of funds and record keeping.

In 1983, he progressed on to an exciting period of trading in Spot FX, Forwards, Money Market and Futures for 17 years. Having witnessed and experienced several financial crises, such as the EMU, Asian Financial Crises more recently the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, he recognises the critical importance of the back office key role as an integral part of the trading cycle in any treasury.

As the first Treasury Manager at Aberdeen Singapore, his key responsibilities included the setting up of treasury operations, liaison between back office administrators, fund managers and bank counterparties. Above all, the timely and accurate execution of FX and MM trades ensuring an effective and efficient management of funds.

Andrew Le

Andrew is a director of Lenovo Singapore where he is in charge of managing the firm’s foreign exchange exposure. His job in Lenovo includes designing effective hedging strategies and advising global business units on their FX exposures on all major currencies.

Andrew is an Australian and has worked in Singapore since 2001. From 2005 to 2007, he was the Money Market Manager at Bank of America in Singapore where he was responsible for the funding of both US dollar and Singapore dollar books with a size of USD 2.5 billion and SGD funding of SGD 700 million respectively. He has extensive assets and liabilities management experience and is familiar with central banks’ regulatory compliance in Singapore and Australia. During his time with Bank of America he has worked in Sydney, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.

Before he joined Bank of America, he was with Svenka Handelsbanken (Singapore) as a senior FX trader responsible for trading FX forward Yen and NZD with a budget of USD 1 million. In addition to his trading responsibility he also helped to manage an Australian RMBS book of AUD 700 million. Furthermore, he was responsible for sales coverage of multinationals, hedge funds and financial institutions.

Raymond Broughton

Raymond was the senior dealer of BNP Paribas Fortis since the days of Meespierson N.V. He was in charge of running the Foreign Exchange desk of the bank, where he traded G7 currencies and managing the exposures of spot order book and FX derivatives (FX swaps, forwards, options) exposures of the bank. In his role in BNP Paribas Fortis, he also provided relevant economic/financial information for relationship managers in the bank’s Private Banking and Commercial Banking departments.

Before Meespierson N.V, he was with Citibank N.A. and Republic National Bank of New York, working in similar capacity.

Raymond earned his BA in Economics, Management Minor from University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1987.

Raymond Chia

Raymond is a Vice President, Portfolio Manager for Pramerica Fixed Income (Asia) Limited (PFIA) since 2008 and has received the Top 10 Most Astute Investor Award in 2009 and 2010 by the Asset Magazine Poll. In his role in PFIA, he oversees and conducts Asia High Yield Strategy, credit and country analysis in Asia high yield bonds of Indonesia, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Greater China credits and local currency debt.

Prior to joining PFIA, he was an Associate Director with Standard Chartered Bank as a sell side analyst covering China and other high yield credits. Before he joined Standard Chartered Bank, he was with UOB Asset Management where he earned the experience of investing in Asian Local Currency Markets, and developed a methodology for monitoring and managing Country Risk, which the company is still currently adopting. He also established the risk rating guidelines and scorecard for UOB Asset Management in his time there.

Raymond is economist-trained, given his education and prior background as a Research Associate for the University of Queensland. He obtained his Masters of Business Economics from University of Queensland after he graduated from the University of London with a Bachelor of Science in Management (Second Upper Honours).

Gordon Aw

Having had more than 11 years of leading teams and establishing networks for distribution in the region, Gordon has laid up a full credential of wisdom and knowledge in practical applications of Business Process Management and Human Resource Management concepts.

Gordon is known as a talented orator and powerful motivational speaker. Being adept in both English and Mandarin, Gordon is very well sought after for motivational talks in different settings. Gordon is also a trainer with great passion. He is an experienced trainer of trainers for more than 10 years. His training and talks have brought him into China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Taiwan, United States of America amidst other countries. Alan Lok CFA FRM

Alan Lok is the Director of a Consultancy firm and has 10 years’ experience in the finance and strategic consulting industry spanning across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Alan joined the consultancy firm in 2009 and successfully spear-headed the equity research division. As the anchor speaker for his firm, Alan appears regularly on media such as CNBC and The Straits Times where he expresses his views on issues related to behavioral finance and macroeconomics.

Prior to that, Alan was an Investment Analyst with SIAS (Security Investment Association of Singapore) Research, the largest independent research house in South East Asia with over 120 Singapore Exchange and Bursa Malaysia-listed companies under coverage.

To date, Alan has conducted training for clients from Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi: UFJ, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole CIB (Singapore), DBS, DNB Nor Bank, JL Capital, HSBC, Munich RE and Zen Technology in areas of asset valuation, derivative accounting, leadership, profiling, strategy economics as well as team building.

Alan also served as an adjunct lecturer at Xi-An Jiaotong University. Alan holds a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA), conferred by the University of Manchester in UK. He also holds the title of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) as well as Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

Ronnie Soh CFA

Ronnie spent 17 years working in major foreign and local financial institutions such as American Express Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank and Overseas Union Bank. During these years, he held positions ranging from Director of Foreign Exchange to Second Vice President. He was actively trading spot foreign exchange as well as currency options.

He is a member of the CFA Institute and Singapore Society of Financial Analysts (SSFA). He received a Masters of Business Administration degree conferred by the Nanyang Technological University.

Ronnie is currently a lecturer with the School of Business Management in the Nanyang Polytechnic. He is also an adjunct lecturer for the National University of Ireland Dublin and Upper Iowa University as well as for a leading private education provider, Kaplan Higher Education. Some of the modules he has taught include Treasury and Risk Management, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Essentials of Financial Services, Introduction to Securities & Investment, International Finance and Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management. He has also conducted options trading classes to diploma students.

Philip Ang

Philip is a Behavioral Specialist. Prior to his private practice, he has more than 16 years of experience in conducting training, counseling and coaching for various groups of clients. He has helped individuals, groups in volunteer welfare agencies and corporate organizations through training and coaching in the area of personal effectiveness.

Philip is a certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist from the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists in the United States. Graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Applied Psychology, he received his advanced level training in Ericksonian Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. He is also a licensed Motivation Profiler.

Philip has been interviewed by different journalists and his comments were featured in Straits Times and magazines. He has been utilizing the Cognitive-Behavioral approach to coach, counsel and train hundreds of individuals, families and groups for the past 16 years.

In year 2008, Philip also worked together with Professor Edward Hoffman from New York in the gathering of research data for his book, “Youthful Peak-Experiences in Cross-Culture Perspective: Implications for Educators and Counselor”. The book was published in fall 2008.

Reuben Soh

Reuben is a professional trainer, specializing in training new candidates who are preparing to enter into the financial planning industry. Prior to his training career, he has a total of 16 years of experience in the financial sector, ranging from being a bank officer in Custodian Department, sales representative in an insurance company, and working in CPF Board.

Reuben is a Chartered Financial Consultant awarded by Singapore College of Insurance under the license from American College in 2009. Currently, his customers include major insurers such as AXA Life Insurance, Aviva Ltd, Prudential and HSBC and major local banks such as DBS and UOB. Recently, he conducted a training session for the senior management of a local bank to assist them in clearing their licensing examination conducted by Singapore College of Insurance.
